The only mascot
Comma is a cat. She is the only character this site has, and she is not a mascot in the cheerful sense; she is a presence. Solid black, sitting or loafing, tail curled into the punctuation mark she’s named after. She appears on the hoodie, the Territory Throw, the sticker sheet, and the hang tag of everything else.
Why a comma
The comma after “off” is the most important character in the brand. “Fuck off, I’m reading” is composed. “Fuck off I’m reading” is shouted. Comma is named for the pause that makes the whole thing polite.
Also, when she sleeps, that’s what her tail does.
Her position on things
- The blanket. Hers.
- The chair. Also hers, when you get up. You will get up.
- The book. Yours, technically. She will sit on it when you are halfway through a sentence and look at you as if the sentence were the problem.
- Visitors. Opposed.
- The lamp. In favour. She sits under it. It is warm and it makes her look like a painting.
- Horror. She is unbothered. Something creaks in the hallway; she does not look up. You find this either reassuring or extremely alarming.
Rules for drawing her
If you’re making something with her on it (you are welcome to, for yourself), keep to the house rules: one cat, solid silhouette, no face, tail into a comma. No bows, no glasses, no books under her paw. She does not read. She supervises.
